What's the Deal With Star Trek, Anyway?
All those episodes, movies, and Klingon cosplayers later, the question clay: What's the deal with Star Trek fans, anyway?
Brendan Sears is non a Star Trek winnow. The episodes bore him silly and he can't quite muster up the enthusiasm to sit through one of the movies. But when his pals advisable he join them on a touring trip to Riverside, Iowa – the future birthplace of Captain Saint James the Apostle T. Kirk – he couldn't resist. He shares the unique undergo in Issue 217 of The Dreamer:
Finally, the trip had saved its intention: to pursue the Enterprise as information technology was with boldness towed where no one … asymptomatic, most people haven't gone in front. Our jostling pursuit of the Federation pok took us through seven long-lived miles of crows and corn. And so we saw a cloud of dust a mile in the distance. Whatever we were headed toward was big and wild plenty to kick functioning dirt and junk four stories higher.
Sears may non have been ready to join Starfleet right then and there, but he did come up away from his trip to Iowa with a bit more understanding into what makes a Trekkie tick. Read the residue of Where the Trek Begins and rent us acknowledge if you're prompt to follow the Endeavor, too.
